Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Wilmington was elated when we were asked to update the outdoor lighting for St. James Beach club within the beautiful St. James Plantation community at Oak Island, NC. The project entails updating approximately 96 lights within the club, and surrounding property, to super-efficient LED. In addition we are also installing 10 additional LED lights in the parking lot, adding 2 additional lights to the walkway out to the beach along with rewiring and installing new transformers. We are well underway toward completion of the project and wanted to unveil our progress thus far — the results promise to be quite dramatic and will enhance the beauty, safety and function for club members.
One of the areas we completed just today was the lighting surrounding the pool area. Pool lighting promotes a safer experience for the swimmer and creates ambiance as the pairing of water and light mingle together as one. Since the pool officially opens to member this weekend, we are excited to learn of the response the new lighting receives from the guests.
The decision to upgrade to LED is becoming more common amongst country clubs, pool clubs and golf clubs in and around the Wilmington area. The driving force to move ahead with an upgrade is the many benefits LED provides. It is true that an LED installation, from scratch, is a bigger investment than traditional low-voltage lighting systems, but pays for itself over time in energy cost savings and less-frequent bulb replacement. Additionally, being able to utilize the infrarstructure of an existing system (if it is a viable) is a good option for keeping the cost down. LED also represents a cleaner, “greener” lifestyle in that they find comfort in knowing their club, project managers or amenity owners care about their impact on the environment.
Stay tuned for more to come from St. James Beach club…
